Article marketing has been declared dead as an SEO and link-building technique many times over and it is still alive and kicking. There are rumors of its expiry once again moving around out in cyberspace because of Google’s new algorithm update that was released on April 25th.
It is very right that many article marketing sites, such as Ezine Articles, grabbed a knockout in the rankings when Google’s Panda was out, but the effects were not deadly and Ezine has since taken steps to ensure that the articles posted on their site are of better quality moving forward.

After that pick a few business directories a week and submit them to your site. Over time you will find that you have gained a large number of backlinks. Once again, these aren’t the best kind of backlinks, but they are not valueless either and they can drive traffic to your site.
There are some review sites that I mention making a listing for. Don’t be afraid of negative reviews. If you receive a bad review the best thing to do is find out if it is genuine. If it is legitimate then your best course of action would be to reply to the comment on the review site and try to minimize the hurt.
If it is not genuine you can contact the site administrator and ask them to remove it. You will have to prove it is a dishonest complaint or they won’t take it off their site. The links from these places can also bring traffic to your website.
Another benefit of listing your website on such review sites is the improvement of your Google Places listing. Google Places are ranked using an unlike algorithm than the one conditioned rank organic listings. Based on independent research, the consensus is that the most powerful factor of whether or not your local listing will appear in the results is mentions or reviews of your business across the net.
Create “Link Bait”
“Link Bait” is nothing but the content on your website that makes the public want to link to it on their own. There are many forms of linkbait you can choose to incorporate onto your site. Below are a few examples.
1. Well written, humorous, and/or informative content.
This one is a no-brainer. In case, if you have well-written, useful, convincing, and or humorous content on your site people are going to link to it.
Creating the type of fun and collaborating widgets and tools is another great way to get people to link to your site. Like different types of calculators, BMI checker which are very useful to readers.
Many people and businesses have a YouTube channel. YouTube site is great, but why should you route people to your personal YouTube channel when you can get them to watch your videos right on your own site itself. By inserting your videos right on your website you will encourage people to link them thereby gaining backlinks.
These are just a few samples of link building methods. There are even others, but these five are the most effective. In the future, I will write about some other effects, but less used link building techniques.
Just keep in your mind that this link building can be a long and time-consuming process. You need to have some patience, as patience is important when it comes to link building. Don’t take the relaxed way out and participate in some link building scheme or buy links. This type of technique will only hurt your site in the long run.
