5 Awesome Ways To Get More Backlinks To Your Website

  • Post comments:4 Comments

As of today, back-links include the very first thing with regards to the major search engines deciding where you can rank your site. In the future that will change, but there is no doubt that backlinks to your website will continue to be an important factor inside the ranking process.

Because of this fact, it is vital that you steadily build links leading to your website. In this post, I will speak about a few good ways to achieve this including creating Link Bait, Blogging, Press Releases, and Article Marketing only to name a couple.

But I won’t just tell you to make use of these techniques I will also tell you how to make use of them correctly and effectively.

Before I start, we want to clarify that I am not interested in whether a link has been tagged “nofollow” or otherwise. Researches by some independent SEO companies have concluded that while PageRank is not transferred through “nofollow” links, overall rankings suffer from “nofollow” links in a positive way.

I will address this matter and discuss the studies in-depth inside a future blog, but in the meantime, I want to make it clear that some of the linking tips I will discuss include linking from sites that “nofollow” their outbound links and that I believe this is the non-issue.

I believe this because Google built all of their algorithms for the undeniable fact that inbound links were the most important ranking factor. I do not believe Google intended the “nofollow” tag to be utilized as widely as it is currently is and they might never allow an incredible number of webmasters to ruin all the work they put inside their algorithm by tagging every outbound link on his or her site as “nofollow.” Google may say that “nofollow” links have zero influence on rankings, but I simply do not think them based on studies I have seen as well as simple common sense.

In our opinion, Google constantly points out that “nofollow” links don’t have any effect on rankings to keep their intended targets from the “nofollow” tag, spammers, down, but usually, they allow “nofollow” links to possess no less than some positive influence on rankings.

Blogging

Blogging is the coolest and most effective way to increase backlinks. Not only can blogging lead to backlinks, but it also is a way to steadily add content to your website, and we all know that Google loves sites that consistently add worth content.

The key to gaining backlinks over blogging is to make sure that you are blogging about topics that are either directly connected to your businesses or field of expertise or that offer useful information for your readers. Once you have found your blogging niche the next thing to do is generate an RSS feed and submit both your blog URL and RSS feed to as many blog directories as you can find. I have clients that gain hundreds of backlinks every month just by blogging consistently. I recommend that you blog at least once a month, but once a week is even better.

Press Releases

Press releases are a great way for businesses to gain backlinks to their sites. There are many free press release distribution sites out there to submit your releases to, but using a paid service like PRWeb can result in hundreds of backlinks from major news organizations with just one press release. Making press releases a regular part of your link-building approach can result in thousands of worth backlinks over a year.

Your press releases can be about anything that you want to be connected to your business. Whether it is about an expansion, the purchase of new classy equipment, a fundraiser, or sponsoring a local event, a press release is a great way to get the word out about your business as well as a way to gain valuable backlinks which will help your search engine rankings.

Article Marketing

This is one more great way to obtain value backlinks is to submit new content to article directories. In return, you will get a link or two in your author box. A well-written post that offers valuable data can go viral and drive stable traffic to your site within hours. Article marketing can also help launch yourself as an expert in your niche and build authority.

Article marketing has been declared dead as an SEO and link-building technique many times over and it is still alive and kicking. There are rumors of its expiry once again moving around out in cyberspace because of Google’s new algorithm update that was released on April 25th.

It is very right that many article marketing sites, such as Ezine Articles, grabbed a knockout in the rankings when Google’s Panda was out, but the effects were not deadly and Ezine has since taken steps to ensure that the articles posted on their site are of better quality moving forward.

I ran my SEO test over the last two months and found that article marketing is still alive and well. I took a brand-new site and wrote article after article and posted them on Ezine, Article base, Article city, and others. The articles were the only source of backlinks I actively perused. The results have been astounding so far.

Five out of the six keywords phrase I am currently enhancing are now on the first page of Google, Bing, and Yahoo!. I cannot ultimately prove that the sole reason for these rankings is the articles and the links contained in them, but the subjective evidence is quite strong and the most vital thing is that my website has not been fined or dropped in the rankings over the last two months.

Things could change and I will keep an eye on it and report to all of you if they do, but as of right now, article promotion is alive, and well it’s a great way to acquire backlinks to your website.

The important to decent article marketing is producing useful, original, and unique articles. You shouldn’t just write one article and post it on 10 different article sites. As an alternative, write 10 unlike articles and post them on 10 dissimilar sites. You should make sure you use a combination of the anchor text of your site links as well.

If done right article marketing can result in a ton of quality backlinks and increased rankings.

Directories and Review Sites

Using business directories and review sites isn’t the most advanced link building strategy, but it is a proven way to gain backlinks to your site. These backlinks aren’t the most valuable, but believe it or not, some of these directories get a decent amount of traffic, and being listed in them can drive traffic to your site. The amount of readers who visit your website is taken into account by Google when they decide where to rank you.

Google figures that if a lot of people are visiting your site and spending time on it then your site must have valuable or exciting data on it and they will rank your site accordingly.

While adding your site in business directories start with industry-specific directories if they are for your industry. I have submitted many sites over the years and only a handful have ever been accepted even though I followed their rules exactly. After submitting to industry-specific listings, submit your site to any local business directories in your area.

After that pick a few business directories a week and submit them to your site. Over time you will find that you have gained a large number of backlinks. Once again, these aren’t the best kind of backlinks, but they are not valueless either and they can drive traffic to your site.

There are some review sites that I mention making a listing for. Don’t be afraid of negative reviews. If you receive a bad review the best thing to do is find out if it is genuine. If it is legitimate then your best course of action would be to reply to the comment on the review site and try to minimize the hurt.

If it is not genuine you can contact the site administrator and ask them to remove it. You will have to prove it is a dishonest complaint or they won’t take it off their site. The links from these places can also bring traffic to your website.

Another benefit of listing your website on such review sites is the improvement of your Google Places listing. Google Places are ranked using an unlike algorithm than the one conditioned rank organic listings. Based on independent research, the consensus is that the most powerful factor of whether or not your local listing will appear in the results is mentions or reviews of your business across the net.

Create “Link Bait”

“Link Bait” is nothing but the content on your website that makes the public want to link to it on their own. There are many forms of linkbait you can choose to incorporate onto your site. Below are a few examples.

1. Well written, humorous, and/or informative content.

This one is a no-brainer. In case, if you have well-written, useful, convincing, and or humorous content on your site people are going to link to it.

2. Widgets/Tools

Creating the type of fun and collaborating widgets and tools is another great way to get people to link to your site. Like different types of calculators, BMI checker which are very useful to readers.

3. Video

Many people and businesses have a YouTube channel. YouTube site is great, but why should you route people to your personal YouTube channel when you can get them to watch your videos right on your own site itself. By inserting your videos right on your website you will encourage people to link them thereby gaining backlinks.

Conclusion

These are just a few samples of link building methods. There are even others, but these five are the most effective. In the future, I will write about some other effects, but less used link building techniques.

Just keep in your mind that this link building can be a long and time-consuming process. You need to have some patience, as patience is important when it comes to link building. Don’t take the relaxed way out and participate in some link building scheme or buy links. This type of technique will only hurt your site in the long run.
